Großsölk Catholic Parish Church

Naturpark Sölktäler

The parish church and the neighboring former Großsölk Castle stand isolated on a steep cliff overlooking the road. It can be traced back to the 14th century and has always had an important protective function for the old trade route over the Sölk Pass, which passes directly by here.

The outwardly simple church, topped by a tower with a domed roof above the main entrance in the west, forms a building ensemble with the neighboring castle. An 11 m high and 2.50 m thick circular wall runs around the shared inner courtyard, which still reveals its once fortified character today.
