CulturCentrum Wolkenstein

Stainach-Pürgg

The Wolkenstein Cultural Centre, an association for the promotion of contemporary art, was founded in 1981 and has therefore been engaged with a variety of genres for more than 40 years. Since 1985, the former Stainach cinema, located at Bahnhofstrasse 110, was converted into the cultural centre. Not only have a large number of international artists and bands performed there, but the Austrian scene has also been and remains strongly present with its performances and projects across a wide range of art forms – from various music genres (including jazz, world music, singer-songwriters, folk music, etc.), film, theatre, literature, visual arts, and lectures on current issues. After two periods shaped in different ways by their artistic directors (Reinhard Gosch and Steinbauer/Dobrowsky), the current team (Helmut Günther & Thomas Hein) is continuing the basic concept of a multi-disciplinary program with some new "Ideas & Projects" for the period during and after the upheaval (caused by the pandemic, the war in Ukraine, and many social issues). The team relies on a curious audience that values quality and can quote the phrase attributed to the great composer Antonio Vivaldi: "Art can do anything – except bore." With this in mind, visit the Wolkenstein Cultural Center and let our program surprise and inspire you.

The Wolkenstein Cultural Center in Stainach offers a broad, diverse, and regular cultural program. In Stainach's old cinema, you can enjoy entertainment in the fields of cinema, cabaret, music, theater, visual arts, and literature. Other projects such as cabaret workshops, theater workshops, and the facade project, for example, ensure that younger audiences identify with their cultural center and foster active collaboration with local schools. The ccw.stainach is also gaining a reputation beyond the borders of Upper Styria, presenting its own productions in and outside of Stainach. Numerous world-renowned artists have already been attracted to the Enns Valley.
