Organ cinema - silent movie classics with live organ music
Pfarrkirche Öblarn
An evening between film history, sound art and a special atmosphere: at the organ cinema in the Öblarn parish church, two selected silent films meet the live improvised music of the young organist Ludwig Zettler - in a very special setting.
Two highlights will be shown on a large screen in the chancel:
- The Mad Doctor (1933) - a dark but charming Disney short film with scary elements and a happy ending.
- The Circus (1928) - Chaplin's quiet comedy about outsiders, clowns and the search for one's place in life.
Ludwig Zettler accompanies both films live on the organ - creatively, sensitively and with a great feel for the scene and mood. The special feature: Not only can the film be seen, but the organist himself is also shown on the screen at the same time. This gives you a direct insight into his playing and allows you to experience the music up close - visually and emotionally.
Ludwig Zettler, born in Öblarn in 1999, dedicated himself to music at an early age. Today he studies church music and organ pedagogy at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz and was awarded 2nd prize and the audience prize at the International Organ Cinema Competition Graz in 2024.
An atmospheric evening for film and music lovers, for the curious and connoisseurs - in the middle of autumn, in the middle of Öblarn.
